Both saints are depicted as full-length figures against a blue background. Catharine is wearing a dress with wide sleeves. In her hands she holds a sword, its point stands on the ground next to the destroyed wheel of martyrdom. St Margaret is wearing a green velvet dress with brocade ornamentation and holds a cross-shaped rod in her hands. A dragon crouches at her feet. It appeared to her in a dream, but she defended herself with the sign of the cross. Each saint's head is encircled by a halo, which like the stars in the background is gilded with gold leaf.
