The figure of Christ crucified is depicted in the foreground of this narrow vertical panel and as such is the central object, whereas the crosses of the thieves are shown at an almost 90 degree angle to the painted surface. the virgin stands beneath the cross in a blue dress and is supported by John who is dressed in red. Mary Magdalene kneels beside the cross and looks up while wringing her hands.
