Description:
The central panel of the triptych depicts a half-length portrait of Johann the Steadfast in front of an expansive landscape. The landscape extends across all three panels. The elector wears a fur-trimmed black cloak, a black beret and has a beard. He is turned to the right, and has a ring on the index finger of the right hand. There is a text-block in the lower third of the painting, which acts as a balustrade for the elector. [Görres, cda 2012]
