Description:
Recto: The saint is shown as a full-length figure positioned under an arch with renaissance ornamentation. This architectural element is repeated on all the panels open at this stage. She is turned to the centre and is wearing an elaborate dress of green velvet with brocade decoration. She holds a jar of ointment in her hand. Her head is framed by a transparent halo. Verso: The panel is part of an annunciation scene that extends over the two central panels when the altarpiece is closed. The Virgin kneels on a prayer stool with an open book. One of the pages shows part of the first word of the Virgin's hymn ('MAGNIFICAT'). Her body is oriented to the left, whereas she turns her head to the right from where - in addition to the angel on the other panel - the Holy Ghost approaches. [Görres, cda 2015]
