Description:
The portrait shows him in the simple attire of a cleric. This portrait type was mass-produced in the Cranach workshop to satisfy the great demand for portraits of the reformer, so that today at least nine versions of this painting that was paired with a portrait of Luther's wife are known to exist. [LWL-Museum für Kunst und Lultur Münster, revised 2017]

- before 1700 in the collection of Legionsrat M. Lichtwer, Dresden
