Adam takes the apple offerd to him by Eve. God the Father had warned the couple not to eat from the tree of knowledge. [...] The snake as unobtrusive as it may seem has been successful with its subtle art of persuasion. The richly laiden tree of knowledge stands at the centre of the composition, the reposing stag and two partridges suffice to define the location as paradise rich in wildlife.
