A half-length portrait of a young woman, facing left in front of a dark green velvet curtain. The woman is wearing a bluish black dress over a white pleated blouse with a high collar. Her brown curly hair is concealed beneath a black hat. She has folded her arms in front of her. In her left hand she holds a single carnation, which has been a symbol of love and honour since the middle ages. This would suggest that this portrait was conceived with a pendant piece, depicting a male portrait and that together they created a double marriage portrait.
