Hercules sits at the centre of this vertical format painting, flanked by Omphale's servants. While the hero looks to the right, the servants have already begun to place a white cloth like a bonnet on his head. He holds a spun thread in his hands, one of the servants holds the distaff. The two partridges hanging in each of the upper corners have every appearance of a still-life.
