Framing

- original double frame (capsule portrait); framed together with 177a

- the frame is attached to a circular wooden panel (glued? see x-radiograph)

- a piece of wood 2.5 cm in length was inserted into the bottom left quarter of the frame, (the same was done with 177a) and possibly replaced a lock, which was originally there?

- split at the top and side

- both the exterior and the interior of the frame exhibit a red bole ground; the exterior is painted black

- gilding: re-gilded, losses retouched employing gold paint
