The Virgin sits with the infant Christ on a grassy verge. Another boy stands at her right enveloped in a transparent christening robe, his wings identify him as a angel. He offers Jesus a plate of apples and pears. The child has already taken an apple and holds it up to his mother, while he takes a pear from the plate with his left hand. A further two angels occupy the top corners of the painting.
