Men and women dance peacefully around a fruit tree, which promises a large harvest. They bathe in clear spring water and lie on the grass. There are no worries, neither of old age nor sickness, no false sense of shame, no dispute, only harmony and peaceful co-existence. Man and

Men and women dance peacefully around a fruit tree, which promises a large harvest. They bathe in clear spring water and lie on the grass. There are no worries, neither of old age nor sickness, no false sense of shame, no dispute, only harmony and peaceful co-existence. Man and animals live together in harmony in the sheltered garden - a Golden Age.

The depiction is based on ancient sources, which were rediscovered during the renaissance. In correspondance with this model after the golden age there followed a silver, a bronze and an iron age.
