The retable consists of a shrine with five carved figures - the Virgin and Child in an aureole flanked by Sts Catharine and Maurice (r.) and Sts Barbara and Nicolas (l.) - , four wing panels and a predella displaying the donors' coats of arms: the von Werder family (heraldic right) and the von Stechow family (heraldic left).[1]

This panel is the outer left wing panel. The inner side is divided horizontally into two registers, each measuring c. 56 x 45.5 cm and depicting paired saints as full-length figures under an arch against a gilded background standing on a neutral greyish brown ground. Sts John the Baptist and Apollonia are shown in the upper register of the inner side and Sts Stephen and Lawrence in the lower register. The outer side shows the Angel Gabriel entering the Virgin's chamber through an arch in the wall.

The altarpiece underwent conservation treatment in 2001. A copy of the treatment report is available in the Gemeindearchiv, Kade.

Date1913 - 1914

In 1913/1914 the altarpiece was restored in Berlin-Wilmersdorf by the artist Rief while the church building was undergoing construction work.

Losses were reconstructed in the faces of Sts Apollonia and Lawrence as well as St John the Baptist's right foot. On the exterior of the outer wing panels a depiction of the annunciation to the Virgin was uncovered.

The inner wing panels were refitted the wrong way around.
