Recto: Joachim and Anna embrace beneath the golden gate. Anna is wearing a red dress with a white veil, while Joachim wears a blue robe with a light red cloak, a blue hat, green leggings and yellow boots.
A donor kneels in prayer on the ground in front of the steps. His tonsure and the black cross on his white robe identify him as a clergyman from the German knight's order.
Verso: The panel depicts the Virgin Mary as a full-length figure in a red robe, standing against a dark neutral background. The Virgin has folded her arms in front of her chest. The depiction is part of an annunciation scene, which extends over both wing panels when the triptych is closed.
The wing panel is part of a triptych, the central section of which is occupied by a sculptural group. The Virgin and Child are positioned centrally on a pedestal and are flanked by the smaller figures of St Gertrude of Neville (a distaff and a book) on the left and St Christopher on the right. These two figures like the crucifix on top of the shrine were added later. A carved coat-of-arms belonging to the donor family Isenburg/Eisenberg is attached to the pedestal. The triptych rests on a more recent predella with a representation of the Last Supper.
