The Nymphe, who belongs to the cortege of Diana, the Goddess of Hunting, has fallen asleep beside a sacred spring. As long as she is not awoken the stag and the beaver (and the viewer) can remain calm.

- there is an opaque black coating on the reverse

- Dendrochronology: 76 annual rings were measured: 1519-1444. The youngest annual ring is from the year 1519. Generally with beech wood the entire section is used and only the bark is removed. A felling date of 1519 can therefore be estimated. The wood then required a seasoning period of at least two years before it could be employed as a support (Klein 2016).
