The painting is a multi-figured composition depicting the crucified Christ between the two thieves. Beneath the cross the converted centurion is shown with his hand raised. In the foreground at the left the Virgin has collapsed and is supported by St John and a woman, while on the right hand

In the foreground at the left the Virgin has collapsed and is supported by St John and a woman, while on the right hand side soldiers gamble for Christ's clothes by throwing dice.
