Comments

Lucas Cranach was for the first time held liable by the city of Wittenberg to pay a special tax of 7.5 groschens for a house in the market quarter. He pays the same sum as Gores Seiler, Marcus Otto, the widow of Peter Hutter and Jacuff/Jacob Cleinschmidt. Cranach was not recorded in either the summer or winter tax list from 1510. Else Salomon was assessed in this position and she was replaced from 1512 by the town judge Caspar Teuschel. The finance department's account book from 1511 is missing.
See Schade 1974, 405, no. 77, here misinterpreted as 8 groschens.
