In 1534 Cranach is again a council member and town treasurer and receives the usual payment. He pays tax and municipal rates for five properties, three gardens and a 'Breite' (plot of land) as well as the two Rade[Rote]marksche Hufen (farmland outside Wittenberg). In this year Cranach rents the council tavern for 70 gilders, because of building work on the town hall. He is permitted to sell sweet and other wine as well as beer not brewed by him. He is not charged any additional wine tax. The tax for brewing beer sinks from five to three groschens per brew. Cranach pays 18 groschens for six brews.
