In this large format painting Adam and Eve are shown against a backdrop of brushes, standing either side of the tree of knowledge. The boughs of the tree are laden with apples and a serpent coiled around one of the branches looks directly at Eve, who is about to offer Adam the apple. The couple look at each other, while a stag observes events from behind.
