  • A. J. Seligmann, Paris, in 1937 (annotation on the reverse of a photograph in the Witt Library, London)
  • a report (SED) on the painting signed by Germain Bazin (employed at the Louvre) and dated 11 January 1938, mentions that Rochlitz (Gustav Rochlitz, art dealer, Paris) left the work in the Louvre to be examined (Hans Brosamer, Samson et Dalila)
  • in 1939 recorded on the art market in Paris (there is a reference in an article by Irène Kunze in 1941)
  • exchanged by Rochlitz on 11 March 1941 in Paris (at the same time as a work by Krüger (MNR 769) and one by Janssen) made with the Reichsleiter Rosenberg for a Renoir and a Matisse (1)
  • entered the Göring Collection (inv. RM 789)
  • registered in the Central Collecting Point, Munich under the number 5414.
  • Restitution France: MNR 362: given to the musée du Louvre by l'Office des Biens et Intérêts Privés in 1950
  • deposited in the musée d'art et d'archéologie de Moulins in 1971 (2) (D 78-1-1), and again in 1987 (3)
