Research History / Discussion

'Until 1947 the painting was attributed to Hans Burgkmair. In 1945 after a restoration, it appeared in the lower right corner that the rightful initials were "H.S." and not 'H.B'. So Antonino Santangelo who studied the painting in 1947, realized that it was no longer possible to attribute it to Burgkmair.'
