The infant Christ stands in front of a black background on stony ground. He supports the cross with his left hand and with his right hand he blesses the infant John who kneels before him in an attitude of prayer. The Lamb of God cowers behind John. Both boys have short blond curly hair, are wearing transparent shirts and each is crowned with a halo. In addition John wears a fur loin-cloth.
