There are a number of old inscriptions, of varying dates, on the verso of the panel: - at the top in dark paint: 'Sophie Viarberg[?] // [of?] Sax', and in a later hand underneath, in black ink: 'geb. pr. Von Waldeck' ('born Princess von Waldeck').
- underneath illegible text in red
- lower down, in black: 'Agnesa 1623', qualified in yet another hand underneath, in black paint: ‘Eine Gräffin V. Waldeck // Luc. Cranach.’
- at the bottom: a stamp: a circle containing the numbers 11/66; in black: 'Ida Fra Schaumburg // Trippe geb: Pyr // Waldeck 1816'
- at the bottom right, in pencil: '111-29'
