Research History / Discussion

The painting is very similar to the Salome in the Szépmuvészeti Múzeum, Budapest. However, in the present work the severed head of the Baptist, which would identify the sitter as Salome, is missing. In addition the painterly quality is rather modest in comparison with the version in Budapest.
