The serpent has coiled itself around the branches of the tree and slowly slithers down towards Eve. She offers an apple to Adam who is standing to her left with his gaze fixed on her and his hand resting tenderly on her left shoulder. The leaves of the branch he is holding modestly conceal their nakedness.
