The painting shows the personification of Justice as a half-length figure against a dark background, holding her attributes: the sword and the scales. She wears her hair pinned up under a decorative snood and a gauzy veil falls over her face to just above the eyes. A tunic of similar material covers her naked body without concealing it. Her attire is completed by a choker and a linked chain with a pendant wrapped twice around her neck.
