A minister is shown as a half-length figure in three quarter profile, facing to his left against a pale blue background. He is wearing a black gown, and his hair cut in a bob with a full beard. His right hand both rests on and indicates to the leather-bound edition

A minister is shown as a half-length figure in three quarter profile, facing to his left against a pale blue background. He is wearing a black gown, and his hair cut in a bob with a full beard. His right hand both rests on and indicates to the leather-bound edition of the bible lying on the balustrade in front of him. In his left hand he holds a thorn bush with a light red blossom at the centre – perhaps the Luther rose.
