This portrait shows the German statesman and laywer Georg Cracow in half-length, in three-quarter view, facing to the right. He is set against an extremely thinly rendered neutral background. The sitter wears a lavishly fur-lined gown over a black tunic, and both the cuffs and collar of his white shirt are just visible. His brown hair is kept short and he has a beard. Three gold chains hang around his neck and rings adorn his left hand, including a family signet ring on his index finger. In his right hand he holds a piece of paper. The Cracow coat of arms has been included in the top left corner.
