Verso: Anna and the Virgin are shown as full-length figures in a landscape. The Virgin holds the infant Christ in her arms, who is in the act of turning a page in an open book given to him by an angel.

Provenance

  • the original location is unknown, as is the date when the central panel and wing panels were separated
  • in 1746 the wings were donated to the church in Gersdorf by Johann Christian Müldener, the court secretary of Augusts III
  • in 20.04.1945 the church was burnt down; the wing panels had been evacuated to Dresden, but were destroyed during an air-raid
