Description:
The dead Christ is stretched out beneath a tree held by his mother. Her dark blue robe stands in stark contast with her son's pale flesh paint. Grief stricken the Virgin looks down at Christ. The crown of thorns is in front of him and in the middle-ground Golgotha is visible on the right, behind a landscape expands in the background. Both the saxonian shields hang from the branches of the tree, attached by threads. [Görres, cda 2014]
