Adam is depicted as a standing, full-length figure beside the tree of knowledge. He is turned slightly to the right, and his curly head is inclined. The left leg supports him and the right leg rests on the narrow strip of ground on the ball of his foot. His body

Adam is depicted as a standing, full-length figure beside the tree of knowledge. He is turned slightly to the right, and his curly head is inclined. The left leg supports him and the right leg rests on the narrow strip of ground on the ball of his foot. His body appears elongated. In his right hand he holds the apple, the palm of his left hand is open to the right, a gesture which also establishes the link to the panel depicting Eve. The end of the snake is visible in the tree, the depiction of the tree with the snake extends over both panels.
