Christ is shown wearing a blue robe, standing in front of Lazarus' open tomb and is surrounded by a mandorla. Lazarus climbs out of the tomb still dressed in his shroud and looks up at Christ. Two assistants visible on the left hand side have just removed the slab from the tomb and are about to set it down. Both Lazarus' sisters stand beside the open tomb accompanied by an inquisitive crowd. The apostles can be seen behind Christ. Moreover in the background the view of a town shows the high priest and Pharisees assembled under an archway.
