Provenance

  • 1628 donated to the Capuchins in Straubing by Euphemia Baroness of Maxlrain
  • on 10.12.1629 the painting arrived in Innsbruck (Altar in the Lady Chapel)
  • [1630 a separate altar was installed (Foundation: Archduchess Claudia)]
  • after Joseph's dissolution of the monastery the painting was briefly taken to Meran (Capuchin Monastery)
  • 1802 returned to Innsbruck to the same altar that was installed in the Lady Chapel in 1630
  • 1940/45 Museum Ferdinandeum, after which it was deposited in the Monastery of Stams (risk of bombing)
  • after the war it returned to the Capuchin Monastery
