Both saints are depicted as full-length figures against a blue background. Barbara is wearing a green velvet dress and holds a chalice with a white cloth, that is wrapped around her waist like an apron. The chalice as well as the tower behind her are her attributes. St Agnes has a red dress on and wears like Barbara a neckband as well as a large linked chain. In her hands she holds the Lamb or Agnes Dei, from which she gets her name. Each saint's head is encircled by a halo, which like the stars in the background is gilded with gold leaf.
