Set in an expansive landscape various episodes of a story are illustrated along the diagonal pictorial axis from the top left to the bottom right. A mother leaves her home having put her daughter who is possessed by a demon to bed, she hurries after Christ and the apostles. In the scene in the foreground she kneels before Christ and asks him to heal her daughter. Christ initially dismisses her, but he heals her daughter after the woman shows humility and compares Christ's help to the bread crumbs from the master's table that are given even to the dogs.
