Christ, depicted as the Man of Sorrows, stands as a full-length figure on stony ground, wearing only a loincloth. He appears hunched together, holding the instruments of his martyrdom with crossed hands close to his chest. A crown of thorns has been placed on his head, which is inclined to the right. His body displays the wounds inflicted on him and is framed by a gloriole containing angels’ heads and putti.
