Condition Reports

Date2018

Support:

  • the planks are warped and loose

  • the reverse exhibits toolmarks from the thinning process. The panel was thinned and chamfered along the edges to slide it into the grooved frame. Otherwise the surface is rather rough. Two paper strips were attached along the join between planks II and III. The reverse has been stained a reddish-brown

Paint layers:

  • various tiny point retouches

  • losses along the edges of the panel

  • the artist's insignia is located beneath a thick varnish layer
