While looking directly at the viewer the duchess kneels with her hands folded in prayer at a table covered with the green velvet cloth. There is an open book in front of her. The elaborate decoration on the shoulders of her black dress picks up the style of her sumptuous

While looking directly at the viewer the duchess kneels with her hands folded in prayer at a table covered with the green velvet cloth. There is an open book in front of her. The elaborate decoration on the shoulders of her black dress picks up the style of her sumptuous necklace, consisting of numerous pendants set with precious stones. This is complemented by an equally filigree snood. A green velvet curtain in the background reveals a crown glass window at the left. [Görres, cda 2017]
