Set in a ruin the Virgin is shown seated at the centre of the painting holding the infant Christ on her knee. Her gaze is focused on her son and her hair is loose. The three kings are arranged around her. The eldest has thinning hair and a beard, kneeling on the left in the foreground he has taken the child’s hand and kisses it softly. On the opposite side the second king kneels, offering an opulent chalice, which the child tries to grab. His turban lies next to him on the ground. The third king is depicted as a moor and stands on the right side of the painting, offering his gift and raising his hat in greeting. A group of men stand in the middle distance on the left.
