DESCRIPTION

Tools/Material:

- dry, black drawing material, dark chalk; some lines may have been executed with a brush and fluid medium?

Type/Ductus:

- economical, relatively free underdrawing

- thin lines

Function:

- roughly binding for the final painted version; the facial features a described with a few searching double lines; no representation of volume with hatching strokes

Deviations:

- only minor corrections were made to forms during the painting process; small changes (e. g. size of the head)
