The painting depicts Christ sitting on a box in the centre of a room with a centrally located window. He has sunk down and wears the crown of thorns on his head. He is surrounded by henchmen, who taunt him with grimaces and mockingly put a sceptre in the form

The painting depicts Christ sitting on a box in the centre of a room with a centrally located window. He has sunk down and wears the crown of thorns on his head. He is surrounded by henchmen, who taunt him with grimaces and mockingly put a sceptre in the form of a thin stick in his hand, while pressing the crown firmly on his head with a rod.
