Venus is depicted against a dark backdrop, standing frontally on stony ground and facing the viewer. Her long locks appear to waft in a breeze. She wears a delicate veil and a hairband set with pearls on her head. In addition she has a band set with pearls around her neck. A wispy veil is wound around her left elbow, and continues across her stomach to her right lower arm and is held with both hands so that it would conceal her vulva if it were not transparent. Cupid stands to the left of Venus with a bow and arrow, the quiver tied around him with a red strap and his eyes bound with a transparent cloth.
