The dead who are resurrected from the ashes of the Earth to eternal life are shown on the left. Their hands are folded in prayer and they direct their gaze towards the Risen Christ [...]. The souls that were excluded by the angels on judgment day from the group of righteous and damned instead to wailing and gnashing of teeth are shown on the right. This gloomy side of the painting is pervaded by the fire of Hell. Among the damned a godless monk can be identified by his tonsure.
