The seated, bound Christ is surrounded by a throng of henchmen, who torment and mock him in a variety of ways. Men in armour pull faces and blind him with a lantern. One of the henchmen places a jesters hat on his head from behind, another puts his horn over Christ's ear. The scene takes place inside and the space is defined by a red marble column and a rose window. [Görres, cda 2016]
