Technique:

- a few thin lines executed in a dry drawing material are visible in the eyes, on the nose, chin and cheek; fleeting drawing style with some double correcting lines [1]

- Pentimenti: the iris and pupil of the left eye were originally positioned somewhat differently; the hairnet may have initially been closer to the lefft cheek - two dark circular shapes directly over the ear suggest this (these shapes were not carried out in the final painted version)

- edges partially overpainted
