The panel depicts an episode from the legend of Hercules, in which Hercules must serve as a slave at the court of Queen Omphale. Hercules is seated in the centre of the composition, wearing a fur-skin and holding spun thread in his hands. He is flanked by two women, probably Omphale's servants, one holds a distaff and looks out at the viewer, while the other places a white cloth on Hercules' head like a bonnet. Four partridges hang on the wall in the background.
