Christ as Ecce Homo is shown frontally as a three-quarter length figure with his head inclined slightly to the left. Positioned at the centre of the composition he is flanked either side, on the left by Pontius Pilate, depicted as a bearded man in a turban and on the right by a soldier with a red cap, baring his teeth. Further men are lined up behind them, some with a portrait-like character. A green curtain serves as a backdrop to separate the figurative group from the architectural background visible at the left.

According to [Emmendörffer 1997, 121] the von Brömse coat of arms (t.r. corner) was probably added slightly later to mark the occasion of the couples union. It is considerably abraded but can be read as:
a ground divided into three stripe coloured green, gold (yellow) and red, and charged with a black eagle
