The right wing of the triptych depicts a half-length portrait of Johann Friedrich the Magnanimous in front of a landscape, which extends across all three panels. The elector is the only bare-heade sitters, he wears a black fur-trimmed cloak, and has short black hair and a beard. He turns to the left and has a ring on the index finger of his right hand. In contrast to Johann the Steadfast on the central panel Johann Friedrich occupies almost the entire pictorial space. There is a text block in the lower third of the panel, which acts as a balustrade for the elector and is decorated with the electoral-ernestine coat-of-arms.
